Restylane vs Juvederm: My Take

I always believe in looking my best no matter the situation. I could be going to the grocery store at 10 in the morning and I will make sure that I am wearing fresh lipstick. Maybe even a big smile on my face. I also wish I believed people when they kept telling me how smoking causes wrinkles. As much as I enjoy looking nice, I never really cared much about my lifestyle. I smoked which led to nasolabial folds and surrounded myself with a lot of unhealthiness. I didn’t eat right since I mostly ate junk food and take out and then it began to show. Not just on my body, but also my face. My fluctuating eating habits really took a toll on my skin. I developed eye bags and my cheeks hollowed out.

All in all I was a complete mess. It was around this time that I came across dermal fillers. I was hesitant at first and then I learnt of two companies, namely Restylane and Juvederm. I decided to go with Restylane first because of the number of reviews it had. From what I learnt Restylane is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid gel used to smooth facial lines and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. I was confused as to what hyaluronic was and after research, I found that it’s actually a naturally occurring substance.

I decided my under eye bags needed help before anything else, so I booked my appointment. My results were really positive. I didn’t notice anything right away and after it started swelling, I got pretty worried.

I don’t know if it’s just the filler alone or my doctor too but I couldn’t be happier. It has been about 6 months since I have gotten it done and I am still happy with the results. I will need to get a retouch done in a month or two though and I don’t mind that. The procedure was also relatively painless. However, the only downside is it being a bit costly.

I chose my lips to be tested by Juvederm.  Juvederm has quite a name for itself and is known to be amongst the best. I experienced daffy duck lips for the first 2 days and a week later, I got another filler done. My experience with my lips however, wasn’t as good as my under eye bags. My lips did feel fuller but the results still weren’t that visible. It’s possible that I might have had unrealistic expectations about the result. Lastly, the effects for Juvederm’s filler didn’t last as long as Restylane’s filler. Ultimately, I find the Restylane fillers to be better than Juverderm’s.
